Working with Karen McManaway and Wendy, her paralegal has been great. Karen actually took a case for me a few years back and won it. Karen in the courtroom is a bulldog and she works hard on her cases, there is no doubt about that. Wendy, this go around who I have been dealing with has been absolutely spot on and so good! Karen and Wendy do a great job at working with a person and they seem to understand what I'm going through. They don't rush you out and treat you like a number. My husband and I hired Mrs. McManaway to handle the out of state adoption between my husband and my young son. My son's place of birth was out of state and his biological father's location also out of state so you can imagine the the complexity and demands of this case. Personally returned my call after I initially spoke to receptionist over phone. Told me about my ticket's implication to my North Carolina drivers status. Explained clearly the approach to handle the ticket and questions about SC Traffic Court rules. Told me her fee. Asked only for legal fee up front, by mail, and will bill me later once final fine has been determined. A larger firm I called earlier is till unable to give an estimate! Fee is about expected. Will refer her to friends in future.

I've read a few of these reviews and I'm shocked, Ms. McManaway wasn't a good lawyer for my fiancée, Alyssa Wilson. In November of 2022 we retained Karen for $5000. After an initial consultation we were confident that she would do a good job for us and our case and we had promise going forward, all that changed at the very first hearing. Karen walked into the courthouse pretty flustered saying that she had been praying about it all night because she didn't know what the other lawyer was going to say, this was unsettling. Needless to say we didn't get a good outcome after the first hearing. Karen stormed out of the courthouse And from my point of view it looked like she was throwing a 5-year-old fit. I asked her if she still wanted the case and she assured us that she did and that she was going to work hard for us. That was a lie. After the first hearing we barely heard from Karen. Kim is her paralegal and she did the majority of the work when it had to do with my fiancée. Karen barely spoke to my fiancée And only met with her a few days before the second hearing. I got a call from my fiancée during that meeting that made me realize Karen wasn't ready for this case. The second outcome was just as bad as the first and Karen didn't even speak up for my fiancée in anyway. In our opinion it looked like Karen laid down and let the other people win, she wasn't a hard fighter and she didn't know us as individuals. I was very critical of Karen many ways but I was never her client My fiancée was. She told my fiancée she no longer wanted my case because of my criticism. She also sent a bill of over $3,000 price hiking because she knew she didn't want the case. She knew she couldn't win and in our opinion she took her $5,000 and ran, doing no work to help us in our case and actually leaving it worse for the next lawyer who may have to pick it up. I would not recommend Karen McManaway, she runs two offices and barely has time for The one in Greenville. There are better alternatives than Karen McManaway.
